This page offers help with ICT and other specialist equipment however, 'screen dumps' have been used for some of the information making the current help notes very visual.  Unfortunately these pictorial demonstrations may not be best suited to visitors who are using JAWS or other screen reading software.

The Help Notes designed by the author are guides intended for use by the author of this website however, they are 'royalty free' and other users can  print them for reference on the strict understanding that the author of this website accepts no responsibility for any problems caused if the user decides to implement any of the information they contain.

HOW TO CHECK IF YOUR TELEVISON, VIDEO REMOTE CONTROL WORKING :
- The  'Infra Red' LED (Light Emitting Diode) in the end you point to the TV etc. actually flashes to send information however it is outside the visible spectrum for our eyes.  To check if it is flashing you will need a Digital Camera with a screen at the back.  Turn on a digital camera and look at the display on the back  - point the LED end of the remote control at the camera lens and press any button on the remote control - a flashing light will appear if the remote control is working.  If there are no flashes of light on the camera screen change the batteries in the remote control and try again.  If there are still no flashes try another remote control - if this flashes OK then the one that doesn't flash may be faulty and will need to be checked further.
